A tweet is going viral claiming Elon Musk nuked the reach of crypto accounts.

Here are my thoughts... and I’m genuinely curious to hear yours.

Here’s how I see it: yes, crypto reach on X has dropped hard, but there’s still zero solid proof that X is deliberately suppressing crypto.

What we’re actually watching is a much bigger shift happening across the whole platform and a userbase that’s simply a lot smaller than it used to be one year ago.

Why? Well. Libra, Trump, Melania, Pumpfun, 10/10....you name it, and the fact that you willl not get rich over night here.
And that slowly became clear to everyone.

But I’ve noticed huge fluctuations myself.
Some days I can barely hit 2k impressions, and then suddenly another post goes viral without warning.

The only explanation that really makes sense to me is this:

➡️A huge part of the crypto crowd has left X.
➡️Not shadowbanned.
➡️Not algorithmically hunted.
➡️Just… gone.

And I want to be fair here: I wouldn’t point the finger at Elon for that.

Yes, he influences narratives, boosts things he likes, buries things he doesn’t, and spreads hate and lies, everyone sees that.

But there is still no concrete evidence that crypto content is being intentionally restricted at a policy or system level.

Whatever is happening is more complex than “Elon killed crypto Twitter.”

🔺 The 19bn liquidation number is actually a perfect analogy:
It reminds me a lot of the 10.10 situation.

People and me keep quoting the 19bn liquidation number, but that’s only the visible part.
Once you factor in unified margin unwinds, ADL events, hidden CEX liquidations, on chain forced closures and insurance fund absorption, the real number is probably somewhere between 30bn and 80bn.

But you can’t pin it down exactly.
You can only estimate based on what leaks through the system.

X is the same.
We see the symptoms, not the internal mechanics.
And right now, everyone is trying to interpret external behavior with no access to the underlying data.

🔺 What we can observe on X right now:
Here’s what’s clear without making any conspiracies out of it:

• impressions across the platform are down
• crypto engagement fell off a cliff
• countless mid tier accounts disappeared
• crypto interest peaked in 2021 and probably agsin before Trump came... and never came back
• users are tired of bots, spam, fake tickers, scams and endless hype
• the recommendation engine is being tightened aggressively

These are straightforward facts.

What we can’t claim is that crypto is being “banned,” “shadowbanned,” or “silenced.”
There’s simply no evidence for that.

🔺 Why the algorithm behaves this way:
Crypto content tends to perform poorly on those metrics, especially outside bull cycles:

• low signal-to-noise
• repetitive content
• high rates of user fatigue
• predictable engagement drops

So when the system tries to maximize “un-regretted user seconds,” crypto naturally gets ranked lower, not because it’s being punished, but because most mainstream users aren’t engaging with it anymore.

It’s simply a shift in demand.

🔺 My personal view:
I can imagine a lot of the theories people are throwing around, but I have no evidence for intentional suppression.

Just like with the real liquidation number on 10.10, we only see the part that leaks through.

Everything else stays inside the black box.

The drop in impressions could be:
• the algorithm
• a smaller audience
• user fatigue
• reduced discoverability
• the end of the hype cycle
• or a mix of all of them

At this point, it’s all speculation.

🔺 A question to the community:
Instead of assuming there’s a coordinated attack on crypto creators, I think it’s better to ask:

What are you seeing on your side?
Is your reach collapsing too?
Are your impressions unpredictable?
Do you feel the audience itself is shrinking?

Because from where I stand, the drop in visibility feels real, but not orchestrated.

The community has just thinned out dramatically.

And until someone brings actual data showing intentional suppression, that remains the simplest and most realistic explanation.
