Crypto was never about numbers on a screen.

It was about opting out. About distrust becoming rational, self-custody becoming responsibility, and freedom coming with consequences.

Most people didn’t want that. They wanted upside without accountability. That’s why it repeats, scams thrive, and narratives replace principles.

The tech still works. The idea still matters.
The question is whether the people do.

And honestly, I increasingly think it’s over.
I guess...2024/25 marked the beginning of a new era.

I remember how it was:
There was the idea.
The discussions.
The tech, the birth.
The improvements, the tension, the momentum.
It was alive.

Then came commercialization.

Crypto Twitter grew, Twitter got bought, and driven into a wall, while everyone kept screaming about adoption. NFTs suddenly became more famous than blockchains themselves.

Memes were culture. Memes were identity.

But more and more, the loudest voices turned out to be scammers. The culture slowly shifted into a casino.

Then launchpads arrived.

Thousands of memes per day. Hundreds of thousands, millions overall. Almost none survived longer than 2 weeks.

Scammers shilled, bags got filled.
Rugs from Monday to Sunday.

And at the peak of the madness, one orange guy showed up with his family, drained the trenches, and is now working his way up to scamming the crypto elite, together with Binance, which conveniently “controls” price discovery.

This is where we are.

And this is exactly how it will continue.

Memes belong to crypto, but they became the main product of an entire movement.
Which is also fine, but none of it is sustainable, long-term, or a real selling point.

Adoption means we adapt to the masses so they come and participate.
Not the other way around.

That includes CEXs that function like banks and memes that are consumed like TikTok videos.

Whether we like it or not.

Thanks for reading.
