Coinbase, politics and Trump.

Coinbase is no longer merely a cryptocurrency exchange. It has matured into a strategic political institution embedded inside the American power system.

The industry has stopped lobbying governments and has begun engineering them.

In 2025, Coinbase publicly confirmed a 25,000,000 USD commitment to the Fairshake super PAC network.

Super PACs are electoral weapons. Their purpose is not persuasion, but selection.
They exist to decide in advance which politicians survive primaries and which never reach office.

Fairshake spent 169,000,000 USD during the 2024 election cycle and achieved a 91% win rate for its supported candidates.

Capital is being converted into legislative alignment with measurable efficiency.

By mid 2025, Fairshake had already rebuilt approximately 140,000,000 USD for the next cycle.

Temporary lobbying spikes do not rebuild war chests.
Institutional influence does.

At this scale, crypto lobbying now operates in the same structural class as defense contractors, pharmaceutical giants, and energy conglomerates. These industries shape the regulatory environment in the USA before it exists.

Crypto CEX no longer operates against the system. It operates through it.

The Trump connection illustrates how modern influence actually functions:

Power does not move through friendships. It moves through personnel pipelines, funding architecture, and timing control.

In January 2025, Coinbase appointed Chris LaCivita, co manager of Trump’s 2024 campaign, to its Global Advisory Council.

Coinbase also donated 1,000,000 USD to the Trump Vance inauguration fund.

Inauguration funding functions as legalized access markets.

It secures proximity before agencies are staffed, enforcement priorities are set, and institutional tone is established.

This is how corporations embed themselves inside administrations without leaving fingerprints.

The optics matter because markets price perception.

When the SEC dropped its case against Coinbase in 2025, markets instantly repriced regulatory risk across the entire sector. Even without provable quid pro quo, the sequence created a credibility collapse. In financial systems, perceived capture is operationally equivalent to real capture.

The deeper pattern is systemic.

According to Public Citizen and OpenSecrets data, crypto corporations injected more than 119,000,000 USD into the 2024 election cycle. That represented 48% of all corporate political spending.

Nearly half of corporate election money originated from a single industry.

No genuine outsider movement behaves like this. Outsiders lobby. Insiders dominate.

Once an industry becomes the largest donor class, it no longer seeks protection from regulation. It begins writing it.

This is textbook regulatory capture.

The public narrative still speaks in decentralised language.
The operational reality in the USA is centralised political integration.

Centralised exchanges finance super PACs.
Super PACs shape congressional composition.
Congress shapes regulatory agencies.
Agencies shape market structure.
Market structure shapes public narrative.

Crypto CEX probably produced new intermediaries with deeper political reach than traditional banks ever achieved.

Banks once lobbied senators.

Crypto exchanges now embed inside administrations.

The same financial power centers simply moved into a new asset class and rebuilt their influence stack on chain and off chain simultaneously.

This is why the rhetoric and reality diverge so sharply.

The language is insurgent.
The structure is oligarchic.

The largest actors now operate closer to presidents than to protocol users. And the user is somewhere in the middle.

So when people say, “The powerful are the ones playing with crypto,” it is an accurate description of the political economy that now governs the industry.

Think about which pigs are rolling together in the mud.

Crypto com, Binance, Coinbase, and other major CEXs are becoming structurally complicit.

They are no longer just platforms. They are political actors shaping regulation, influencing power, and quietly aligning themselves with figures who may soon fall.

In every respect, this is centralised finance with blockchain branding.

Nothing more than banks, just repackaged to look modern.
