Crypto wealth concentration: the September 2026 commentary

Crypto has roughly 742 million holders worldwide.

Only 135,694 of them hold at least $1M in crypto.

That is around 0.018% of all holders, roughly 1 in 5,500.

92,272 are Bitcoin millionaires.

Only 290 people are estimated to hold more than $100M in crypto, and just 23 are estimated to be crypto billionaires.

Only 9 of those are attributed to Bitcoin.

Those 23 billionaires are not 23 publicly identified people.

Only 5 individuals have publicly known or on-chain verifiable crypto holdings above $1B. The estimated billionaire range is actually 17 to 34.

At the same time, the entire crypto market is worth around $2.62T, with Bitcoin accounting for roughly $1.56T.

Millions enter crypto chasing financial freedom.

The data shows how microscopic the top actually is.
