Polygon PoS: checkpoints are not the whole security model
Examine the specific network instead of treating every Polygon product as interchangeable.

Polygon PoS has its own validator and consensus architecture, with connections to Ethereum. A system's use of Ethereum checkpoints does not by itself make its full security model identical to an Ethereum rollup. Polygon also develops other technologies, so the product name matters.
Start with the exact asset route
Identify the chain and bridge used, the token contract on each side and the withdrawal process. Some assets can exist in multiple forms. A ticker match does not show that the same issuer or redemption path backs each version.
Applications add their own administrator, oracle and liquidity risks. A smooth transfer and a low fee tell you that one operation executed; they do not establish the safety of a lending market or the independence of its token distribution.
When comparing chains, write down settlement, data availability, validator control and upgrade authority separately. This is more useful than ranking networks by a single transaction-per-second headline.
