Validity rollups: proving a state transition

A validity rollup supplies a cryptographic proof that a state transition follows the computation encoded by its proving system. The settlement contract verifies the proof instead of re-executing every transaction on the base layer. Batching spreads the verification overhead over many actions.
The proof's strength depends on the statement being proved, the implementation of its circuit or execution environment, and the verifier accepted by the settlement contract. Correctly proving a narrower statement does not establish a broader claim that was never encoded.
Correct execution is not the whole exit process
Users also need data and a practical path to recover or withdraw their assets. Some designs put data on the base layer; others depend on additional availability arrangements. Upgrade authorities can change important parts of the deployed system.
The phrase zero knowledge is often used as a general label for proof technology even when transaction privacy is not the product's objective. Read data availability and bridge claims alongside the proof description. A verifier accepting a proof is one part of the system's assurance, not a complete account of custody, privacy or operational control.
