  1. Read the mint and the authorities

Solana stores state in accounts. Program ownership describes which program may modify account data. An SPL token account also has an owner authority controlling its tokens. These are different uses of the word owner; neither automatically names a human being.

Read the mint and the authorities

A mint identifies a token. Its mint authority may be able to issue additional units, while a freeze authority may restrict token accounts. Extensions and the token programme used can introduce other behaviours. Check the specific mint and programme rather than applying assumptions from a different token.

One wallet may control several token accounts, including several accounts for the same mint. Counting each as a separate investor exaggerates the number of independent holders. Custodians and programmes also hold accounts on behalf of others.

MASTR's TRUMP investigation explicitly separates wallets, token accounts, signers and pool positions. That distinction makes the transaction trail readable and prevents false claims about ownership or concentration.
