Linux at 35: the infrastructure behind everyday computing

Linux is 35 years old, and a huge part of the digital world still quietly runs on it.

Servers, routers, Android devices, cloud infrastructure, cars, industrial systems.

A large part of crypto infrastructure too: Bitcoin nodes, Ethereum clients, Solana validators, RPCs, exchange backends and countless tools are commonly run on Linux.

That is interesting because Linux grew almost completely differently from modern crypto.

Linus Torvalds published the kernel, put it under an open-source licence, and people simply started using it, improving it and building on top of it.

No token. No presale. No KOL campaign. No artificial “community”. No valuation before product-market fit.

It became important because it was useful.

Crypto often does the reverse.

Launch the token first, create liquidity, assign a billion-dollar valuation, pay people to talk about it, and then spend the next 2 years trying to prove there was a reason for the thing to exist.

Linux is a reminder that open infrastructure does not need constant financial theatre to become globally important.

And maybe that is the part crypto should think about more.

The best infrastructure eventually becomes boring. People stop talking about it because it simply works.

Linux got there.

Most of crypto is still trying to pump its way there.

Judge crypto actors by behaviour, not nationality

I learned very early, and life has confirmed it again and again, that appearance and origin tell you remarkably little about a person’s character, ability or intentions.
