  1. The account balance may be fictional

The approach may begin with a wrong-number message, a friendship or a romantic conversation. The other person later introduces an investment platform and offers to teach the victim. Small apparent gains or a successful early withdrawal can make a larger deposit feel justified.

The account balance may be fictional

A fake interface can display any profit. An initial payout can be funded from the victim's own deposit or the operator's other receipts. Neither establishes that the advertised trading happened or that the remaining balance can be withdrawn.

The pattern often becomes clearest when a withdrawal triggers another demand for money. Stop treating each new payment as the final administrative step. Preserve the complete conversation and transfer records rather than debating the displayed balance with the operator.

Social trust and investment evidence must be evaluated separately. A long conversation, a video call or apparently detailed personal knowledge does not authenticate a platform. See recovery scams for the frequent follow-up after a victim recognises the loss.
