Start with the question a transaction record can answer. A transfer can establish that funds moved between two addresses. It cannot, on its own, identify the people controlling them, explain a private agreement or establish intent. MASTR’s LAPTOP work follows allocation routes, distinguishes acquired inventory from market purchases, and reconciles sale receipts with subsequent transfers. The distinction matters: moving proceeds through another asset does not create a second profit.

The Avici/Rain and Tectonic investigations ask a different accounting question: which users, contracts, chains and observation windows are included in a reported loss? A company’s reconciliation and an independently traced cluster can describe different scopes. Read the timestamps and exclusions alongside the headline amount. The FOMO and Coldcard records focus on technical boundaries: where signing happens, what an interface reveals, which code version was reviewed and which questions remain unanswered. These publications preserve the author’s findings and interpretations at the dates shown. A later patch, response or investigation may change the picture.
