Do you know what I envy about sports?
There are clear rules and clear boundaries, and everyone agrees to them before the game even starts.
Not because they are forced to, but because without them, the game would have no meaning.
You cannot win by ignoring the rules. You cannot claim victory by changing them mid game. If you cheat, you are not admired.
You are removed.
Because fairness is the foundation that allows competition to exist at all.
In sports, strength is measured within a shared framework. Talent matters. Discipline matters. Strategy matters.
But the rules matter most, because they create the space where all of that can be expressed.
What fascinates me is that athletes accept limits voluntarily. They understand that boundaries do not restrict greatness. They make it possible.
Sometimes the opponents argue. Sometimes the fans argue. Emotions run high. But no one questions that the game itself must be protected.
And that is where the comparison becomes interesting.
In society, in politics, in markets, and even in crypto, we constantly see people trying to win by bending, ignoring, or rewriting the rules.
We see people who want the victory without accepting the framework that makes fair competition possible.
They want the trophy without the discipline or/ and the outcome without the process.
The applause without the effort.
Sports teaches something simple and profound.
You only deserve to win if you agree to play by the rules that everyone else accepts.
Without shared rules or values, there is no competition. Without boundaries, there is no trust.
Without trust, there is no game.
And without a game, there is only chaos.
That is why I sometimes, and more and more often, envy sports.
