Another NFT illusion just hit the wall.

Another crypto death.

@foundation is dead.

One of the most iconic Ethereum art marketplaces, a platform that pushed roughly $230M in primary sales during the mania years, is shutting down for good after its Blackdove rescue deal collapsed.

Yes, the contracts still exist.
Yes, the art can still be traced on Ethereum.

But the actual experience people depended on, the frontend, the discovery, the curation, the collector flow, the sales environment, the convenience, the social prestige layer around it, all of that can vanish almost overnight.

Foundation was sold as part of a supposed survival path.

Then the buyer backed off.

Infrastructure was already spun down.

The team said there is no realistic path to bring it back.

Artists got a tiny window to delist.

Now many are left cleaning up the mess, migrating, paying more gas, backing up media themselves, and figuring out how “sovereign” their setup really was.

It is a reminder.

A huge part of the NFT world was never durable infrastructure.

It was a bull market wrapped in beautiful design.
Aesthetic speculation.

Curated exclusivity.
Narrative.
Status.
Liquidity.
Culture.

And a very fragile dependence on centralized interfaces pretending to be permanent cultural institutions.

When the music was loud, it was revolution.

Now the volume is gone, and we are left with the truth.

Painful for artists.

Foundation is not just another shutdown.

It is a case study in how much of Web3 culture still rests on companies, servers, interfaces, and trust, even while preaching decentralization.
