Bridged assets: the same symbol does not mean the same claim

Follow the minting and redemption path across both networks.

  1. Start from the exact token Record the source and destination networks, contracts and bridge route. Check whether the token is issued natively or represents an asset held elsewhere. Two tokens with the same ticker may have different backing, liquidity and redemption paths.
  2. Trace failure conditions Identify what must remain functional for a holder to redeem or exit: contracts, validators, message verification and available liquidity. A functioning destination chain does not demonstrate that the bridge's redemption process is functioning.
  3. Preserve both sides of the record For a transfer investigation, retain the source transaction, message identifier and destination execution. Match the mechanism's actual identifiers instead of relying solely on similar amounts and timestamps. Similarity can suggest a lead, but it is not a substitute for a verified cross-chain link. Describe unresolved steps explicitly rather than turning a partial route into a definitive ownership claim.

Bridges move assets or messages between networks using different mechanisms, including lock-and-mint and burn-and-mint arrangements. A destination token can represent a dependency on contracts and verification outside the chain where it is traded.
